Adelaide, the fifth largest city of Australia, is the capital city and the most populous city of State of South Australia. Adelaide is located on the east coast of Gulf of St. Vincent on the Adelaide Plains. Population of Adelaide is around 1.28 million inhabitants. Adelaide was named after Queen Adelaide, Consort of King William IV. Adelaide is renowned for its culture, food, wine, performing arts festivals, long pristine beach fronts, and the cultural boulevards of North terrace and King William Street.





Adelaide is a well-planned city designed by Colonel William Light, the first Surveyor-General of South Australia, and listed among the top ten most livable cities of the world. The city has been designed in the form of a grid with five squares surrounding which there is a ring of parks, known as parkland. Being a planned city, Adelaide has an excellent road network with multi-lane roads and ring roads. The climate in Adelaide is hot summer Mediterranean climate with wet months during the winter season and unreliable summer months. The major industries in Adelaide include defense technology, production, and research, manufacturing and commodity exports. Being established as a British Province, significant influence of British Culture, arts and entertainment can be seen in Adelaide.
